  1. Great Saw Review by Greg

This is a great saw. Very well made and comfortable. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  2. Great Value For A Great Tool Review by Toolman29

The quality and durability of this jig saw are amazing. The powerful 7-amp motor will cut through you put it through. The Value of this tool is excellent when you feel the power and durability. Overall, its a great tool to add to anyones tool box, I'd highly recommend this tool (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  3. Excellent saw but a safety concern Review by dickdoc

I am repairing an outside deck using 2x6 redwood and cedar. My old jigsaw was useless. I read reviews of various saws and this model always came out at the top or very near the top.
I have been using it and it is excellent. It cuts curves and angles effortlessly. My only complaint, and that's why I did not give it five stars, is a safety concern. I feel there should be a safety start button. It is much too easy to accidently start the saw by just picking it up by the handle. This could lead to injury. Otherwise it is a great saw. 4. AWFUL Design Review by ethan

The newly designed quick release head is the worst innovation ever. I have cut and coped with many Bosch jig saws but not this one. The unsteady blade will not cut straight nor vertical with any accuracy. I will never buy a Bosch product from a home improvement store again. Word of advice buy from a woodworking supply store. It costs more but you are upgrading to pro grade products not DIY garbage. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  5. Great Jigsaw Review by KJG511

Like always the bosch is the best when it comes to jigsaws. Love the new easy to change chuck for the blades a heck of alot better then the old twist the top models. Seems to cut dead on every shot like it alot. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  6. Worlds Different Review by WoodAmature

I bought this jig saw to replace an older, less quality brand. The difference was vast, cutting was much more simple and accurate. The more powerful motor allowed me to get my cuts where i needed them. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  7. This product has a small set of features and does not cut straight Review by ArtP

I was disappointed on this saw. I tought I was buying the best (and one of the most expensive), but I was grossly mistaken. It only accepts the T-blades, while most competitors accept most styles, if not all of them. One other thing that is disappointing is that the blade mounting point is so far from the base plate, coupled with the saw's relatively long stroke, that you are forced to use only the longer blades if you want to cut anything thicker than cardboard. This geometry also makes the blade flex during the cut - it is virtually impossible to follow a straight line. Even if it appears that you have followed a straight line, the cut, from the top to the bottom of the item you have cut (let's say, 3/4" plywood) is not pendicular.
The only thing that I like is the speed regulation. This is the worse money I have spent on a power tool (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  8. this product has power Review by jimbo

I don't like using only t-blades,no lights.my shop has poor lighting w/shadows (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  9. Poor quality at a very high price. Review by pupdog

I was very hopeful buying this.
You would think that a very expensive and powerful Bosch jig saw would at least cut square in a piece of 4/4 pine with a brand-new Bosch blade. You would be wrong in this case, even for a straight cut. Well off the mark, and it varies by how much it's off. The awkward method used to adjust the angle of the blade is just wrong. This thing is also quite loud, and it is suprisingly hard to see the front edge of the blade without contortions. OK for basic carpentry or very thin stock, but nothing with any degree of precision. I tried to call Bosch about it, but they insulate themselves from real customers with an outsourced customer service company. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  10. Bearing groove size is mismatched to Bosch blade thickness. Review by D.B.

My trusty Bosch 1581VS jig saw finally died. It was a great tool. Well made and engineered. Its major virtue was the ability to cut straight or curved lines and have that cut be square! I recently purchased the JS470E to replace it and was horribly disappointed with the out of square cutting results. Upon closer inspection, I found that the bearing groove and the Bosch blade thickness were a perfect match on my Bosch 1581. However, on the JS470E, the bearing groove is much wider than the blade thickness. Therefore, the blade is free to wander all over the place and is almost impossible to control during a cut. This is very depressing, because I was really looking forward to owning another Bosch jig saw. I have returned it and am facing the grim task of finding another manufacturer's model that can measure up to my Bosch 1581VS. If this is a case of the wrong bearing having been installed on the JS470E, I would like to know that because I would still be very interested in owning another Bosch jigsaw! A response from a Bosch engineer would be appreciated. Thank you. D.B. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  11. Great tool if precision is not really your goal Review by RURC

First of all I like Bosch. I have had many tools from them for years. but this jigsaw just falls short. We are an aerospace firm that makes custom interiors for large (A340 Airbus and Boeing up to 747) air craft. We do multimillion dollar jobs several times a year.

We have been using these for about a year and are looking to replace them. The vertical cut ability is not always straight. When we are trimming at +/- 0.020" a perfectly vertical cut is mandatory.

Also the distance from the bottom of the foot to the top of the stroke is too far. We are cutting composite panels that have a phenolic honeycomb core. So the top and bottom are the only real cutting areas as the phenolic is so thin that it offers no resistance. What happens is in panels thicker then 0.250" using the diamond grit blades we must use it has a tendency to pull the blade too high and damaging the bottom surface.

Other than these issues which are a game changer for us. This saw is well insulated and almost vibration free. The blade changer may be the best in the industry. The build quality is very high and replacing parts has been great. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  12. Powerful, cuts great Review by Edward

Cuts great and has plenty of power and has a quality feel. The only problem I have seen is the blower does not keep clear saw dust very well. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  13. Fine addition to the shop Review by Robert Brimlow

I have large hands, and this jigsaw accommodates them better than most. The grip is solid, comfortable and easy to handle. The only improvement would be, for me, an angled handle (lower at the back) for a more ergonomic grip.
The saw performs better than most others that I've used, though how it holds up under extended use remains to be seen.
Blade changes are easy and fast, a plus when doing production work. The blade stays true, for the most part, unless cutting curves into very thick stock. But slowing the feed helps prevent blade wander.
Overall, after just a month of use, I'm decidedly happy with my purchase. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  14. Powerful and smooth Review by Rbuss08

I bought this as my first ever jig saw and couldn't be more happier with it! I am impressed with the power it has going threw metal as well as how smooth it is to cut wood! I highly recommend this tool! (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  15. good power, easy to control speed Review by Bearbonez

I have had this tool for a few weeks now and have used a few times. The saw cuts very easy and is easy to control. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  16. Clean, Easy Cuts!! Review by phinkle613

I bought this a few weeks back because I had heard the quality of this product is outstanding. I would like to inform everyone that all the talk is true! This tool is user friendly and cuts very quickly and cleanly. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  17. Bosch - JS470E Review by 4759

I used this saw on a job site. I was so impressed with how well it cut and handled I bought one for myself. It is the fastest cutting and most controllable saw I have ever used. (Posted on 9/26/2013)
