  1. Greatest and most versitile tool ever! Review by AZWLDMAN

I love the Bosch Bulldog. While working on renovating my house, I originally bought another brand of hammer drill that burned out after a few uses. The repairman said he made a lot of money fixing that brand of tools and that he wouldn't buy one. I had a big tile job in a shower redo. He told me his favorite tool was the Bosch Bulldog because it offered a chipping function along with hammer drilling. At his advice I threw down extra money on this tool. I had the tile removed from that bathroom in about four hours, while the other bathroom took over 26 hours to remove the tile with a hammer and chisle. We used and abused the Bosch over the next several months using the hammer drilling function as well as the hammer alone function and never got a groan from the Bosch. The tool is still in my shed and is always the first one I reach for when I have a big job. I would not recommend the other brand to my worst enemy, but brag on the greatness of the Bosch Bulldog to anyone working on a heavy duty job. Buy this tool with confidence. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  2. Takes the Abuse Review by Dreamcatcher

I have had a Bosch Bulldog for many years and have drilled thousands of holes with it - often in very difficult circumstances. It has survived being tossed around on concrete and amongst rubble. It has endured rain and being dropped in the mud on many occasions. But it just keeps on going.

While it isn't the fastest hammer drill in the world, it drills holes at an acceptable rate and stands up to whatever conditions you may throw at it. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  3. The extreme best Review by bzied

It is impossible to find any negatives about this drill.
It's capable of doing all jobs that it was designed to do.
A lifetime tool for me. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  4. No material can stop it! Review by JonM

I have used this drill to bore holes in extremely dense concrete, block walls, stone floors, etc. and it has handled it all with ease. My last project required 15 1-inch holes and I completed the task in about 20 minutes. Awesome product and a reliable time-saver. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  5. Fast & powerful Review by Fixer

This is the best drill I have ever used for concrete It is very powerful and fast If this one ever.wears out I will replace with the same model ! (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  6. Glutton for punishment Review by Stick

excellent ergonomics. bullet proof. fast, As a scaler/chipper it has it's niche. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  7. Great tool Review by Squire

Have had tool for many years and it just gave out so I bought another one today. Does a great job for a homeowner handyman (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  8. What can stop it? Undefeatable! Review by Bert

1st bought before it was even available in Canada.
The hook is a god send when on a ladder.
The hammer function has been put thru unbelievable tasks which I don't dare mention BUT it has performed better than the Energizer Bunny - it does not stop performing.
My boss was not initially impressed with it when I 1st got it but when he was given one and put it thru its paces, he is now a believer. He especially likes the adjustable head for chipping. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  9. Awesome!!! Review by Marco

I totally love this tool I've had it for 2-3 years and never had a problem with it. I use it constantlly for taking out ceramic tiles, cvt tiles, chipping concrete, drilling and never let me down. Me and my friends have tried basically all brands of tools in all different areas and bosch is in our top three favorites. for durability and effectiveness. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  10. I love my drill! Review by Diablo Kid

I wanted a hammer drill to hang some shelves in my basement. I looked at cheaper models and then started trying to make the case for things that I could do at work with a good rotary hammer (in order to justify in my mind why I should buy a better one). I decided on this model and have not been disappointed! Over the last three or four years, I must have set over 1,000 anchors between 3/8" to 3/4". The Bosch doesn't miss a lick or break a sweat.

I recently was doing some work out of town and had to set a few anchors. I had to fly to this location and did not have my drill. I had to use the one they had on site, which happened to be the cheaper model (non-Bosch) that I had considered years before. I was so glad that I didn't buy that drill! It took me over an hour and a half and two drill bits to drill what might have taken 15 minutes with the Bosch Bulldog Extreme. I love my drill! I am getting ready to buy a new Bosch cordless drill and maybe even the job site radio! (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  11. World of difference Review by JOHN CURRIER

I have no basis of comparison with other SDS tools only with standard hammer drills. There is a world of difference. I started to mount a fixture in 60 year old concrete with a standard hammer drill. It took 30 minutes and multiple bits to get a 1 inch deep 3/8 hole. I bought the Bosch and completed the other two holes I needed in about 30 seconds each!

I have had the drill 4 years and have used it sporadically for light to heavy tasks. Heaviest was drilling 3 half inch by 8 inch holes in concrete for speed bump installation. Took about 3 minutes for each hole.

    PROS
1> MUCH more effective than non SDS hammer drills.
2> Versatile with drilling, hammer drilling, and straight reciprocating action (used it with sharpened chisel to chip out an incredibly tough stump) On remote jobs I leave the regular drill at home and use a SDS/jacobs chuck adapter so I'm covered for all tasks.
3>Surprisingly easy on the vibration while hammer drilling.
4>Nice carrying case with good internal storage
    CONS
1>Much heavier than a regular hammer drill but you won't be holding it nearly as long either.
2> Some kind of internal cover on the storage compartment in the carry case would have been nice as smaller stuff moves around to the other compartment a lot
3> Some oil leakage from gear case when used heavily and tool seems to get pretty hot. I may have been overcapacity on the drilling tasks when this happened but I think we all expect to go a little over capacity occasionally without ill effects for quality tools. The tool still works fine but I don't like seeing that oil. This is why I gave it 4 stars for value. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  12. Goes through concrete with ease! Review by Impala

I have been using this tool for months now and have had no problems at all. I drill holes through 4 inch slabs of concrete to run pipes and this tool does the job. I was a little skeptical at first because it seemed a bit too small for the job but it proved me wrong. The tool has a lot of power. Good also for chipping concrete with a chisel bit. Great tool, great value. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  13. It's a Bulldog Review by Pete

I bought this Rotary Hammer along with the HS1420 Chisel and a Bosch SDS+ drill bit set ( 3/16" to 1/2") after doing research on similar tools. I mainly bought it for chipping concrete. I was impressed with its power, light weight and how easy it is to chuck and remove bits. The long cord is a plus. Bits for this hammer are available locally for me. That was a selling point. The tool container is large enough to hold the chisel and the drill bit set. This hammer will not wear you out. It felt comfortable as I used it. I was able to easily chip concrete in a confined space and to drill into it as needed. I always wear eye and ear protection and gloves, but found this hammer is not overly loud. 14. Perfect for occasional concrete drilling Review by Paul H. - Remodeler

This rotary hammer is lightweight and easy to handle. It makes quick work of drilling holes in concrete for sill anchors or tapcons. Very easy to change bits. The depth stick works well. I've used this for chiselling up small to medium areas of tile (wouldn't want to overwork it on more than 100 sq. ft.). Vibration is minimal. As with most Bosch tools, it comes with a long cord.
I was installing a large floating laminate floor that required a half dozen or so transition/expansion strips which meant drilling 90 small holes in old concrete for the strip anchors. A 1/2" hammer drill took 2 min per hole, the Bulldog took 3 seconds per hole. Do the math for the time savings. Well worth the investment. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  15. Works Good Review by Benelli

So far works excellent , does what it is supossed to do (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  16. Great tool. Review by HarvestKyle

I have used this tool to take up 200ft of tile, worked as hard as I did! I figured it might be too much for this unit and that it may over heat on such a large job but no way!
The clutch on this tool works like a dream and Im sure will extend the life of the tool. The vibration control is also a huge bonus and very much appreciated as the end user. Nice job on this tool Bosch... (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  17. great tool Review by Rwill21

with selectable modes and easy operation this tool has become a must have. from changing tile to drilling concrete great results every time (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  18. Fantastic rotary hammer! Review by GuitarStv

Purchased this drill almost a year ago. It has seen steady use drilling hundreds of holes in concrete and brick since then. It's fast, very easy on the hands, and makes a perfect hole every time. I thought long and hard, and the only negative that I can come up with is that this drill requires that you use SDS bits, it doesn't work with standard masonry bits (although you can buy a chuck that plugs in to use them as well). Excellent drill and it brings a smile to my face every time I use it. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  19. Excellent tool Review by SteveH

This was my first hammer drill, and am I glad I bought it. Right out of the box, I used it to break up a large outcrop of hard rock blocking one corner of my enclosed garden area. I also had to drill a few holes in a concrete wall to bolt some timber to it. With a regular drill and a carbide bit, this would have taken me several hours. I know, because I've done it a number of times over the years. The Bosch took care of the entire hole-drilling job in about ten minutes. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  20. great drill Review by meterman

i bought this drill for drilling concrete and it does exactly that. we are pleased with the performance and hopefully it will be as durable as the last one we had. it lasted us 14 years. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  21. Excellent Drill into Concrete Review by greenmeister

Very happy with this tool, it punches hole in concrete very well. Used it for couple projects and 1/2 holes and 3/8 holes. Very impressed at how quick it worked thhese holes. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  22. Light Weight, yet powerful!!! Review by nmat

I had some basement windows to replace for a customer, & needed a new hammer drill. I purchased it for $200 with a $50 rebate, so you can't beat the price. It functioned better than expected, easy to hold onto at head level for long periods of time due to it's light weight. I went from chipping out the old ones to drilling into the foundation to install the new ones with a flick of the dial & a super quick bit change with the SDS-Plus system. It's a must have for anyone who works with concrete. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  23. Replaced My Old Bosch tool that was stolen. Review by CharlieOtero

I bought this a month ago because the one I had was stolen but served me well since 1993. I hope this one will be as good as the previous, I can not rate this at this point because I have not used it long enough. My five star rating is based on the performance and reliability of the previous Bosch Hammer Drill I had. (Posted on 9/26/2013)
