  1. Absolutely no substitute Review by Kuna

I have been surf fishing on the beaches in New England for years. I can not count the number of boom box's and radios I have gone thru. I finally smartened up and after doing a little research found this great product. I kid you not when I say waves have crashed over it, it has been barried in sand, survived thunderstorms and yet it still works & looks like new. A solid well built, well designed product that will last you for years and years. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  2. an excellent stero with lots of features Review by ToolNut

If your looking for a tough, power and feature packed stero then this is the only choice that there is. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  3. excellent Review by Bradyb88

You can literally drop this down the stairs and it still works great. Will buy another when this one goes. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  4. this product sounds great Review by RGP48

I love this boombox,it sounds awsome. It was easy to set up and program. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  5. Most durable and versatile audio out there! Review by partycentral189

When I purchased the product, I wasn't exactly sure what exactly this product could do. I thought if I could play my music using my iPod, get great sound to compete with all the noise of the outside world, AND have it survive the travels, I would be in great shape. After using it a few times, the product was so much more. The benefits are more than expected. Now my co-workers and neighbors want to borrow it for their use. I think the cool-factor of the roll cage and the sound that cranks the music, attracts many new people to this product. You've got to try it. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  6. Solid & Loud Review by marf3000

I bought this item knowing that BOSCH products are usually on point. This definitely is! My other work stereo blew out the speakers within 4 months. This stereo has held up for the 8 months I've had it and it's one less thing to worry about when I'm out on the job. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  7. Great Versatility Review by hobie

My Bosch radio is an excellent addition both to my shop and office. I use it almost every day being semi-retired. I have never had a moment's problem with it. The disc player works well even on discs that do not function properly on my other devices. It keeps me in touch with the news and the music I choose. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  8. This Product Is Cool ! Review by nightcrewzin

It's perfect for the night crew at the grocery store. The sound can be heard throughout the store with strong clarity. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  9. Best radio hands down Review by Rob630

Bosch powerbox radio hands downs is best in it's class. Sound is great and all extra options like USB, SD card , and iPod hook up are awesome. Would recommend to anyone. Can't find anything that matches up with this radio. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  10. Great Speakers Review by Samson5611

Great radio. The only bad is that my 32g Ipod touch doesn't work with the radio. Had to go out and buy a usb card...... (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  11. MP3's Review by renomario

    Great RADIO!
    Super sound!
The only thing that bugs me is with the MP3's SD or USB, do not see track names only numbers like 102345. Maybe i did not catch how to see track names, for sure it is not in the owners manuel!

    THXS!!!! (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  12. Great sound at work Review by Toolmac

Awesome work boom box. I plug in my mp3 player and listen all day. lots of options. 12v, outlets, usb, you name it. I wish it charged more than one type of battery inside the compartment. A pain to pull out all my different chargers everyday. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  13. Good Radio but Review by imtn

I love that i can charge my large batteries in it but I mostly use the small 12v batteries and it won't charge those. the radio signal is pretty good but on mine the antennae doesn't stay put unless i lean it against the cage. my biggest issue with it is that although i like the i can charge my Iphone with the usb connection, I can't control or listen to pandora or the Ipod with it. I have to use the mp3 patch cord and open the media bay if i want to change playlists or stations. Iphone have been out for years and i just bought this radio a few months ago so I see no reason why it's not compatible. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  14. Must have on jobsites! Review by HandyHand

This radio is awesome! The sound is great and can be heard anywhere on the jobsite. The extra power receptacles (4 of em!) are so handy. I love being able to listen to the radio in the morning to catch up on current events and then after lunch plugging in the mp3 player and letting it shuffle to make the day go by faster. I love the fact that I can put my mp3 player int the sealed media bay and I don't have to worry about it getting damaged. If my phone starts to die I can use my car charger with the 12v. plugin. Plus there are many many more ways you can play your own music by plugging in a usb, sd card, or any other auxiliary source. Radio can also charge my 18v batteries and run off of one if power isn't available. Very sturdy design and easy to tote around. I would recommend all jobsites have one! (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  15. Best jobsite radio on the market currently Review by Steve_093

My last boombox held up at the jobsite for about a year and the death of the machine involved leaving it outside during a light rain. Key requirements for my replacement. 1) water resistant (water proof would even be better) 2) aux input and output jax 3) good sound for yard size project (the sub is great for the size) 4) rugged enough to last.

This radio meets and exceeds all my requirements. The unit was "for a limited time" offered with a slim line Lith-ion battery (in the box) and there is a mail in rebate for 2 free slim lith-ion batteries. Plus the unit was on memorial day 25% off sale at a retailer. So radio with 3 batteries worth the cost of the radio. So I got a great deal and a really nice replacement radio. Only down side I can see is that I now will be investing in some 18VDC Bosch tools. I have another brand cordless that I am happy with, but with 3 new batteries my next tool will likely be blue. Normally Bosch are are a little out of my small construction project budget. Hopefully I can find a good deal on my next cordless tool purchase too. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  16. nice!!!!!! Review by Marco

My friend has the previous version of this radio with cd player and we used it for years now I bought this new one and let me tell you it sounds a lot better and looks a lot better I use it with the usb and with my phone. over all is a good product all, it is Looouuuddd. we put it in the second floor and we can work on the 1st and 3rd floor listenin to our music, I use a blue tooth so I charge my phone on the radio outles and listen to the music from my phone, when the phone rings it rings on my radio so I never mis a call, the music dims down I talk and when hang up, music goes back up. withou getting off the ladder or getting off from under the sink. I love it. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  17. Excellent Product ! Review by ChizelHead

Best sounding, highest build quality, most versatility of all job site radios !

4 A/C outlets and 1-12 volt outlet(protected by one amp fuse) are VERY useful!

Radio will operate with a charged Bosch battery in the “Charger/Battery Bay” without radio A/C cord connected !

The front panel radio / input have a high quality “feel”. Menu control function buttons require a “tap” to become active.

Digital Media Bay includes USB, SD/MMC, “Aux 2” inputs.

iPhone (and iPod Touch and most other “Smart Phones”) will not fit into the Digital Media. However, I suspect most users (myself included) of this radio would prefer to use the “Aux 1” input (stereo mini plug on outside upper left of radio) and stow phone in the storage space under the radio’s main carry handle - in order to access the device more readily.

The only item on my wish list for this product would be “Bluetooth” (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  18. I guess I got unlucky... TWICE!!! Review by altierior

I upgraded from the older version of this unit - the one that played CDs but not MP3s. My old BluCore battery would no longer hold its charge, so I also upgraded my cordless drill to one that had a battery compatible with the charger in this stereo.

From the day I purchased it, the MP3 player would randomly just stop. There was no way to get it going again other than to either turn off/on the unit, or scroll through all of the inputs back to the one I was using, which seemed to reset it for a while.

I tried everything. USB drives, SD cards, putting my files in folders, putting less files on the drive.

It also would NOT charge my drill battery. It could stay in there for a few minutes or a few days, but the moment the unit was unplugged, it would turn off rather than go to battery power. I also could not use said battery in my drill because the stereo actually DRAINED it.

I returned the unit to Bosch, and was very promptly send a new one. Thank you, Bosch, for that!

The new unit has EXACTLY the same issues!?!

I have done some searching on the web, and have found others with the same MP3 problem.

Yes, the battery is inserted properly. It is not like there is a wrong way to insert it. It clicks in place, and needs to have the tab pressed to release it. The battery is the big issue. I bought this expecting that it would charge my spare battery so I would always have one at the ready, and the stereo would run on battery power when unplugged. If they are charged in the regular charger, they are fine. The stereo just depletes them rather than charging them. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  19. This product is invincible. Review by Power Box

This will be my 5th summer of using the power box non-stop. I use it at my beach house on the deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It has never been turned off in the last 5 years, all of which can be verified. I just turn it down a bit at night. I have at time large parties and it provides the music.
It has simply amazed me and everyone who learns the story. 5 years without being turned off and still playing loud and clear. I have been told to share this story with Bosch. Now I have. Thanks Bosch. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  20. Good sound, doesn't work with modern technology Review by Dolomite

I have previously bought 2 Bosch radios and was extremely happy with them. However, this new one is a failure. What is the point of having a USB port that will not work with the most popular USB devices, such as iPhones, iPods, droids, and some mp3 players. I would've never purchased this radio if I knew this beforehand. Even with all it's bells and whistles it is no better than the previous versions of the radio. I really like Bosch products, in fact all my cordless tools are Bosch, but this box leaves me feeling taken for $200. To top it all off some batteries will not charge in it. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  21. Great Unit! Review by Tyler Garrard

Awesome sound! So many features yet simple to use!
Wish I could charge my iphone as well as play music at the same time... Other then that its amazing! (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  22. This thing Rocks! Review by BJ1

The Power Box is awesome. Sounds great from any direction. Lets me charge my 18 volt battery and cell phone at the same time while listening to my downloaded music on my phone wow! Great job site/fun site entertainment. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  23. Practially bulletproof and does it all Review by Mark

After seeing a demonstration where the radio was thrown around a store and kept playing I had to have one knowing it could take abuse. You can play MP3's multiple ways and if I can't find anything on the radio I plug my phone into it.

The outlets on the side are nice when you need to plug other things in. The ability to charge Bosch slide batteries is nice and so is the ability to power the radio with them. The only draw back is that the on board charger doesn't seem as fast as the regular charger so it may be quicker to plug a charger into one of the outlets on the side. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  24. Great Stereo Review by Enemarxist

I've have been a fan of this job sites radio since the day the rep threw the original Jobsite Stereo down the stairs at my shop and the CD didn't even skip. The new Jobsite Stereo sounds even better with more bass. I like the onboard battery charging option, I only wish it was comparable with the little 12V batteries as well. This tool is always around both at work and at play. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  25. Works great, makes the days go a lot faster. Review by TDaig

Had this radio now for over a year and us it almost daily. Ive had it out in the pouring rain and in the middle of the winter without it skipping a beat. Gotten a lot of complements on the jobsite saying on how well it sounds and how far you can here it without it sounding distorted.

Only complaint is that its difficult changing to a different input, but thats the least of my worry... (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  26. bosch forever no more Review by sully

I love this concept...great sound , sturdy ,lots of features. BUT,.....they should all work to make this a great product. It states it has a 12 volt charger for cell phones. It does have an outlet , but I can't use it to charge my cell phone or my radio is useless ! that sucks ! when I called the "help line" they said I might have the same trouble with other things pluged into that outlet ! Sorry . WTF ! I'm taking it back to the store even if they say not too. can't charge .......can't use. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  27. many options Review by Alex

  29. Quality, Durability, Versatility Review by Rodman

I own a lot of Bosch products and I am glad to now own this well built mp3/radio. It has a lot of useful features. I have had a lot of complements on the mp3/radio. I would recommend this to anybody. I will say again "Quality, Durability, Versatility". (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  30. The first time I saw one of these at my neighbors! Review by Jojo

I absolutely wanted one. It was a perfect Father's Day gift!!!
The only thing it doesn't have is a remote and darn it did not come with a battery. I did get a great deal from Lowe's when I bought it though and they sent it to my house the very next day!!! I showed mine to my girlfriend and she bought one too!!! (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  31. Outstanding functionality Review by BB66

I purchased this along with a drill/impact combo. I was doing a lot of work on a room addition. I used this thing daily! Charges my batteries, listened to music from using my phone, power station, and as as seat during lunch. My kids use it outside to listen to music using the battery as a power supply. I can't wait to use it camping. The only thing I found and it's not that big of a deal is that the USB does not charge your iPhone when using the aux mode. You can still charge it but have to use the outlet. Overall, great buy and would highly recommend it.  (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  32. Review by Monnbeam

It's a great radio with allot of nice features. And works and sounds great. only down side I think is. That you talk about the battery pack and how you can take it anywhere to use it. But you don't supply the battery that goes with it. Now to buy the battery that is for it. Cost more than what I paid for the whole radio. If your going to sell something to say - use anywhere - then at least include the battery that is for it. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  33. Excellent Product Review by MOE16

More than loud enough to be heard over most of the other tools! Very robust!! Being used both in the shop at home and on a home build site on weekends. Plenty of inputs/hook-ups for anyone on the site. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  34. Solid Unit Review by JakeKat

I have been using the piece of equipment for the last five weeks on my job site and I could not be happier with it. The sound is awesome, the battery life excellent and the features cannot be beat by any competing product. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  35. Great sound, easy to operate controls. Review by Silverado

Great sound with plenty of volume. The antenna could be a little better. Very sturdy and easy to handle. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  36. Frustrating Performance Review by RC11

I've been unable to use the media bay, because I can't get the usb to charge my ipod. Disappointed because I can't get it to charge my iphone either. Also, I can't get the unit to play or recognize music files from the usb port. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  37. No battery with radio Review by Stew

I would NOT recommend this radio. If it came with a battery it would be worth it, but Lowes only sells the BAT 9 and 10 not the 19 or 20 required. It's a glorified extension cord that plays music. I wasted my money and it turns out the battery is over $100. I've been robbed and I went to the store instead of being held up on the street. It doesn't play loud enough either. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  38. Nice radio but not perfect Review by BalticHomeImprovement

    PROS:
    1) Great sound 2) Durable design 3) Dust proof 4) you can play radio, your mp3 player or smart phone, usb stick or SD card 5) charge tool batteries 6) flexible antenna 7) should work out of tool battery (mine does not) 8) 110V and 12V outlets
    CONS:
    1) There is no CD player 2) when you play from usb or SD card often randomly freezes or just can not read so you have to restart the unit or try later 3) Media compartment is too small, most of newer smart phones would not fit in there 4) the radio is very heavy 5) for some reason does not work out of the battery 6) buttons could be more responsive, sometimes you have to press few time to make it work (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  39. Review by OldBob10

This is a great product at a great price. I do a lot of target shooting, when I can, and this product is perfect to listen to radio or flash drive music, of which I have a lot of. Once again, GREAT PRODUCT! Just wish it had remote control. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  40. 5 speakers, ez read dial, great sound. sub woofer Review by xpwolf

I bought this radio about a month ago sound is awesome,  wish it had a little more volume, power antenna, and a 75 oms plug in for auxiliary antenna. Otherwise not bad. I really like the speaker set up clear hear all around. (Posted on 9/26/2013)

  41. Frustrating Performance - Updated Review by RC11

After working with Bosch on my issues, I'm updating my review. My main complaint is still unresolved. The unit will not charge my ipod, my iphone or my wife's droid unless I have the radio in USB mode. But I can't play any of these devices through the USB, so I have to stop playing music to charge my ipod or iphone. Very disappointing, since this was one of the key features that lead me to buying this radio.

To figure this out, Bosch had me ship back my unit. After several phone calls, they determined there was nothing wrong with the unit. The weird part is they sent me back a factory reconditioned unit. A unit with some dings and scratches that my unit didn't have. Not sure why they didn't just send me back my unit if there was nothing wrong with it?

My second issue was resolved. I can now play music from the USB. Pretty simple answer which should be noted in the manual. The radio will only play MPEG-3 or WMA files. It will not play MPEG-4 files. (Posted on 9/26/2013)
